The library lies at the heart of the academic programs at Chapterhouse. As our students move from one class to another, the role of the library shifts and reformulates but it remains a critical part of their school experience throughout their tenure with the school. We currently have one main library and a small mobile version that has been specially created for our Playgroup and Nursery students.
Playgroup And Lower School
Students learn how to access, evaluate and use information, while also understanding how to create it. Students are encouraged to visit the library to select materials for fun and for their assignments. Faculty and staff encourage them to engage and satisfy their natural curiosity.
Middle School
The Library program has two main components, the teaching of research skills and promoting their natural curiosity. Teachers work closely with the library staff to develop projects and assignments that require library research skills.
Upper School
Here the focus of the library is to develop and build the skills students will need in their education. They get the opportunity to practice information access and usage and the rules that underpin it to drive their information literacy skills. The library also offers a collaborative study space that can be used by students in their various group avatars for acquiring and sharing knowledge.
